yarn & cloth

Purl Patchwork and Purl moved locations in Soho just after I finally made it to the stores in person 2 weeks ago. Even though I was just in the store, I couldn't help but take advantage of their free shipping while moving deal a few days after my visit. Here's what I got:

cloth

More cloth...some of which will be used to make ties...yes, ties! ties for guys!  How can you not be excited about these crazy retro feeling patterns and colors?

yarn

And, silk "straw" yarn for crocheting a scarf along with a "pretty cheap project bag".  I was drawn to the straw look of the yarn--definitely unique.

keeping chickens

chicken coop

I am intrigued by this: A portable, modern, easily cleaned chicken coop for your backyard. There are so many unique breeds to choose from too. There are chickens that lay blue eggs! But how does the winter work in the northeast? I can imagine it now: a yard full of cats and chickens frolicking and blue eggs for breakfast. (Apparently many chicken breeds get along well with cats and dogs...but will the cats befriend the chickens?)

what i would like

is to have a boat big enough to sleep on or at least a little lakeside bungelow. I caught an episode of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations where he went around Indonesia and spent some time in what appears (to me anyway) to be paradise. The lake was filled with Koi and a "Pancake Man" would go from bungelow to bungelow on his boat to deliver morning pancakes. I also want to try durian fruit now.

LHC fun

The Boston Globe did a good job of documenting the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) via photographs.

shoe wheel!

I like this idea...I'm not 100% sure but I believe it is all clear vinyl too so that the shoes don't get all dusty.
